When I first saw this question, I felt compelled to answer it - can you get bigger eating whey protein and not working out?
If you wanted to gain weight, and don't want to think about body fat ratio and all that stuff, then yes, you can get bigger eating whey protein and you don't have to work out. Here is how it works.
How big you get depends on how much you eat. But your body composition (in terms of lean muscle mass versus fat) can be very different. For example, you can weigh 68 kg but your body fat percentage is 30%. Or you can weigh the same, but your body fat percentage is 10%. Who do you think will look better in terms of physical appearance? The individual with 10% body fat will look ripped, while the individual with 30% body fat will look overweight.
So, what result are you trying to achieve here? If your idea of getting bigger includes looking more muscular, then you can't get there without working out.
You see, workouts are what is responsible for stimulating muscle growth. An hour of exercise each day is all you need for your muscles to grow. Right after your workout, consume your protein shakes. Within a few weeks, your body composition will change and the results will show in the mirror.
If you eat whey protein without working out, do you know what will happen? Make a guess. You probably guessed that you will get bigger (fatter), and you guessed right. The whey protein that is so quickly absorbed by your body isn't being used for muscle growth and recovery since you don't work out. So the body has 2 options - either store them as fat or get rid of them.
If you are not working out regular, chances are you have not conditioned your body to burn fat quickly. So whatever portion of the whey protein that gets stored as fat becomes visible very quickly.
If your idea of getting bigger isn't getting fatter, then drop the idea of consuming whey protein without working out. To become fitter, healthier and stronger, you must workout. Combine your workout with a good eating plan that includes consuming whey protein and you will achieve your goals in no time.
