When preparing for bodybuilding competitions, always remember that you are your own worst enemy. So focus on competing with yourself. Here is a sample plan you can undertake.
Preparing for bodybuilding competitions - useful tips
1) Plan your time well. If you say you are going to spend 2 hrs daily in the gym, then be sure to do that. Walk the talk.
2) Have very clear goals. Know where you stand and set realistic goals. Of course, you must push yourself to soar to greater heights. But being unrealistic is just setting yourself up for failure. Set goals that are higher than your normal expectations, but are still achievable.
3) Always ask for help from other more experienced bodybuilders. But be discerning. If you act on the wrong information, you will be the one who suffer.
4) Take daily pics of your own body so that you can track your own progress.
5) Work on your training and eating plan. Bodybuilding is a mostly a science when it comes to working out and eating. The pros measure what they eat.
6) Be prepared for down time. If you feel you need some motivation, visit bodybuilding forums to read up on some success stories. Find out what others had gone through. Then you wouldn't feel so bad as others have also gone through what you are going through now. Remember, the pain is only temporary.
7) Do your homework and study the bodybuilding competitions as well as the competitors. How are they training? What's their background? Can you outgun them when the big day arrives?
