Whey Protein Shake -
Viewing: Taste is of utmost importance when buying protein shakes. If you don't like the taste, you are unlikely to want to consume the whey protein. When starting out, make sure you try a few brands and flavors to determine the type of taste you like best. For instance, do you prefer chocolate or strawberry. Don't just rely on Internet reviews to make your decision. Different people have different taste. I remember this story about a friend who read about all the raving reviews about some great tasting strawberry whey protein powder. So he bought it and tried and the first time he drank it, he almost vomited! Avoided the flavor ever since. There are 2 things to take note of though. The first is the aftertaste. If you haven't been drinking whey protein shakes, you may find the aftertaste to be a little strange. It's just like drinking low fat milk for the first time. The taste is a little unfamiliar, but it gets better after a few weeks. In any case, most high quality whey protein don't leave a chemical aftertaste, so you are more likely to enjoy the drink. The second issue is the way the whey protein mixes with water. Most of the time, you will want to drink whey protein with plain cold water. If the powder doesn't mix well in a protein shaker, then that's poor quality protein. You don't need heat or fancy equipment for the protein powder to dissolve properly. Some powders are so good that they dissolve when stirred with a spoon! Most however, require the use of a protein shaker - a water bottle with a stainless steel wire ball in it to help break up the powder. The bottle costs less than $20. Here are some great tasting protein shakes that we highly recommend. Optimum whey nutrition - This protein powder provides whey protein isolate. Remember the difference between isolate and concentrate? That's right, isolate is a higher quality protein. Optimum whey protein contains over 90% isolates, which means that this is a high quality product. It's just slightly more expensive compared to whey concentrate products. But for the quality, the price is hard to beat. Mixes very well with cold water and has a wide variety of flavors to choose from. Flavors like Extreme Milk Chocolate are rare and hard to come by. GNC Whey Protein Powder - GNC has its own whey protein products under its house brand. The only downside about this product is that the stores sometimes charge a premium for the brand. In other words, expect to pay a little more for GNC whey protein powder. Taste and quality wise, this is a great product. GNC is a trusted and reputable brand. So perhaps that makes a difference. EAS whey protein - Another popular brand name. Mixes very well with water and milk. Customers enjoy creating high protein milk shakes with this product. Syntrax Matrix Protein Powder - A wide range of flavors to choose from as well. Of all the flavors, perfect chocolate appears to be most popular. In general, for best tasting protein shakes, stick with chocolate/cookies and cream flavors. These are the most popular tastes. The other flavors may be rather subjective.
