Viewing: Do you find that your whey protein powder becomes lumpy when you try to get it to dissolve nicely? Here is why. When I first tried making my whey protein shake, I used hot water. BIG MISTAKE. The whey protein powder becomes clumpy immediately and I ended up having to chew up the lumps to consume the protein. I then tried using cold water to make my drink. That doesn't work too well either. The whey protein powder dissolves better when compared to hot water, but it's still lumpy. So far, whey protein powder dissolves best in cool water - i.e. water that is kept around cool temperature or slightly cooler. When I use cool water, I simply have to use a spoon to stir the water and the protein powder mixes easily. The stirring can be improved if you use a protein shaker. This is a bottle that comes with a swirl metal ball inside. When you shake, the ball helps to break up the powder and this creates a more even mix. This is also the fastest way to make a whey protein shake. If you don't have time to prepare the drink, just use your protein shaker. Remember that the powder mixes better in COOL (not cold) water. So add your ice cubes AFTER mixing the powder with the water. Of course, the best way to mix protein powder with water is to use a blender. There are numerous whey protein shake recipes posted on this site so feel free to check them out. You can use a desk top blender or a hand blender. Both works very well. A desktop blender works better if you intend to use ice cubes. The strong blade can cut up the ice cubes to create a smoothie drink. A hand blender can only help to mix the powder well with the water. You can't exactly use it to break up ice cubes as the water may spill out. So a desktop blender is still preferred if you intend to add ice cubes and other ingredients to your whey protein drink. |
