Whey Protein Shake -
Viewing: It took me a long time to learn this but your diet REALLY matters if you are going to lose weight and stay fit for the long term. This is what I mean. Many people think that it is impossible to put on muscle mass and lose fat at the same time. So they dish out advice like "gain weight first, then go for cutting". As it turns out, it IS possible to gain lean muscle mass and burn fat AT THE SAME TIME. How can that happen? The trick is in your diet. When I was conducting research on fitness diets, many conflicting pieces of information came up. Some experts recommend going on a low carb, low fat, high protein diet. Others think that this is wrong because the body requires carb to fuel the intense workouts. So who is right? The only way to know for sure, is to ask those who have been THROUGH IT ALL before. In other words, let's ask those who already knows what works. As it turns out, it's true that carbs is the body's preferred energy source. When metabolism takes place, glycogen and fat comes together and converts into energy. Glycogen is stored in muscle tissue and the liver. When glycogen is depleted, the body starts feeding on amino acids, which is provided by the muscles. If you are trying to gain muscle mass, this is not a good thing because you actually lose muscle mass. This can happen as a result of poor diet or over training. But then I learned about complex carbs and simple carbs. Simple carbs are what most people consume in their daily diets - white rice, white breads, etc. Complex carbs come from foods such as whole grains, oat meal, brown rice, and so on. The key difference between the two types of carbs is that simple carbs is more easily absorbed into the body. Complex carbs takes longer to digest, but contains more vitamins and minerals. To digest the complex carbs, the body actually burns more calories. In other words, you are making the body work harder to digest the food, and this results in a leaner physique. In fact, serious bodybuilders avoid simple sugars and simple carbs like plague. They consume fruits, plenty of vegetables (especially mixed vegetables) and lots of protein. If you break down a meal, the percentages look something like this: 40% protein, 50% complex carbs, 10% fat. Note that organic fat is important for health and should never be avoided completely. Besides, the fruits and vegetables also provider fiber, which the body needs to function optimally. So if you want to maintain a nice physique without destroying your health, eat a well balanced diet that consists of fruits, veggies, lean meat, complex carbohydrates, and protein. Supplement your protein intake with protein shakes because you are never going to meet your daily protein shakes just from your daily meals. Add a scoop of protein powder into a meal if you don't want to consume a shake. And before you to go bed, make sure you drink a protein drink. You don't want to consume calories just before bed time. So just add a scoop of protein powder and mix it with cold water. That's your bed time drink. |
